Mariposa man dies in head-on collision

A Mariposa man was killed in a head-on traffic collision on Wednesday night, May 17.

Robert Shaw, 32, died in the accident.

According to the CHP, at around 6:15 p.m., a 2006 Newmar Ventana motor home driven by Dale Giantomasso, 62, of Peotone, Ill., was westbound on Highway 140 just east of Chase Ranch in western Mariposa County.

A 2006 Subaru being driven by Shaw was eastbound on Highway 140 approaching the Chase Ranch area.

According to the CHP, for an unknown reason, Giantomasso’s motor home drifted into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the Subaru.

The driver of the Subaru died at the scene, according to the CHP. He was pronounced dead by emergency personnel.

The passenger in the Subaru, Bobby Shaw, 69, of Mariposa, was airlifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with non-life threatening injuries.

Giantomasso suffered minor injuries, complaining of pain in his legs, according to the report.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation but CHP officials said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Various emergency response agencies were on the scene of the incident.

This accident comes the same

This accident comes the same week that I viewed cars passing over the double yellow on 140 THREE different times. What is wrong with people these days?
