Man arrested for multiple child molestation counts

Ryan Parker Ryan Parker A Mariposa man was arrested without incident last week on a Ramey warrant alleging lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14 years of age.

Ryan Lee Parker, 30, was arrested at the Chevron gas station on Highway 140 in Mariposa by a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The sheriff’s office had obtained a Ramey warrant, which is a warrant obtained by law enforcement personnel directly from a judge.

Parker is facing eight felony counts, dating back to May of 2015. No other details surrounding the lewd and lascivious allegations were available.

While making the arrest, the deputy found a small black container with clear tape around it and a series of small X’s on the tape.

While completing the search, the deputy opened the black container and observed what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine. The substance, which weighed 1.2 grams without packaging, later tested positive as methamphetamine.

A lewd or lascivious act upon a child is any act with a child who is under the age of 14 years, with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust, passions, or sexual desires of that person or the child.

A lewd or lascivious act upon a child is a felony.

Parker was booked into the Mariposa County Jail on $400,000 bail.

He is set to appear in court on Tuesday, May 30 at 9 a.m. for a pre-preliminary hearing.
