She was born on May 5, 1931 in Lompoc, Calif., to the late Vernon H. and Viola K. (Wilson) Olson.
Betty had many hobbies but especially enjoyed doing arts and crafts, she liked to work in her yard and in her younger years she also loved to play fast pitch softball with her two daughters Susie and Sandy.
Betty also loved giving back to her community. She was a director of the Mariposa County Fair Board for approximately 15 years, a member of the Cathey’s Valley Garden Club for over 50 years, a member of the Mariposa Ladies Lions Club for many years and a member of the Merced/Mariposa Cowbells also for many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, George Gordo, and her son-in-law David Ziegenfuss.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Susie Gordo and Sandy Ziegenfuss; two grandsons, Mike Ziegenfuss (wife Jamie), Dennis Ziegenfuss (fiancée Racy); and two great-grandsons, Christopher and Cody Ziegenfuss.
Betty was a proud grandma and great-grandma to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the McKay Hall in Cathey’s Valley at 1 p.m. with a potluck to follow.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Merced.
