Carl Wiberg

Carl Edwin Wiberg was born on March 30, 1946.

On March 4, 2017, Carl peacefully passed away at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Wash., surrounded by family. He impressed the hospital staff during the early part of his stay with his friendly and flirtatious ways that was evident throughout his life.

Carl is survived by his ex-wife, Cindy McWilliams, and their three children and spouses, Carl (Amy), Christopher (Chelsea), and Caryn (Clint) Loveday; eight grandchildren, Issak, Rebekah, Carl John, Kaity, Mackenzie, Hannah, Addison and Bella. Two more grandchildren will be born later this year.

Carl loved his country, serving in the US Army’s 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Air Cav. Division which included two tours in Vietnam for which he received a purple heart.

For approximately 14 years, Carl, along with his wife at the time, Cindy, served the community of Burley, Idaho, as the local ownership of the 7-11 convenience store. Many people would walk in with a big smile and a loud, “Hello!” and walk out with a joyous “Have a great day!”

With his family mentioned above, his six brothers and sisters, Vera Jean (Fritz) Gaumnitz, Mary Lee (Hugh) Howland, John ( Jennie), Emily (Roger) Skaggs, Ted (Robi), Dorothy and their families, along with the many friends and individuals whose lives he impacted, Carl leaves a legacy of loving fiercely, giving selflessly, and helping generously to family, friends and even strangers. His legacy spans the globe and lives on in each and every one of their lives.

Carl’s remains will be buried at Cathey’s Valley Cemetery in Cathey’s Valley located near Mariposa. He will be joining his mother and father, Jean and Theodore Wiberg, at their final resting place.
