On Feb 21st I, like so many

On Feb 21st I, like so many of my neighbors, attended Tom McClintock’s town hall meeting in Mariposa. It was heartening to see the room packed with people from both sides of the political aisle, hoping to make their voices heard, behaving in a mostly friendly and civil manner. Less than halfway through the meeting it became apparent that the Congressman had come to the meeting to be seen but not to really listen. His responses to questions reflected what he already believed (the party line) if he answered the specific question at all. The fact that nearly half of his constituents do not agree with his policies seemed to be irrelevant. In his mind the country had spoken by electing a President and a Congress that is Republican, so now they can do whatever they want, without even acknowledging that there is another side. He even implied that the only way to have any influence is to vote him out of office in 2018. I think we should take him up on his cavalier taunt and find someone new, whether Democrat or Republican, who can see past party politics and do what is right for the people in this district.
