Delores Duff

Delores Mae (Griffin) Duff of Newton, N.C., went to The Father’s Home where she joined her parents, George Griffin and Alma Cunningham, her stepfather whom she adored, L.H. Duncan, her siblings, her husband of 64 years, Richard D. Duff and one son, Darby Duff.

She once lived in Mariposa.

She leaves behind three children, Deborah Duff-Logue (children Kristin (Brian) Macy, Andrea (David) Wyatt, Jason (Shannon) Mall, Richard Duff Jr., (Debra) son Tyler and Elaine Duff (Cindy Payne). She also leaves behind great-grandchildren close to her heart, Kyleigh and Christopher Macy, as well as seven others, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Also her loss is felt by her friend of 80 years, Norma Wiggins and friends of 40 years Jane and Manuel Alvarado. Other friends as well, too numerous to name, are from Alaska to Florida. None who knew her will fail to remember her rule at the table.

Delores donated her body to Wake Forest University in order to help others learn. She will be interred with husband, Richard, at the NC State Veterans cemetery in Black Mountain.

A memorial service will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father James Collins as celebratory on Aug. 20, 2016. Family will receive friends at St Joseph’s starting at 10 a.m. A short Rosary will begin at 10:30 am and service to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Feeding America, ECCCM in Newton, N.C. or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newton.
