Thelma Moore

Thelma Hambrick was born in Nugent, Texas, on Oct. 2, 1916 to L.C. Hambrick and Julia Phillips Hambrick. Her youth was spent on various farms in Texas.

She trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior when she was 16 years old and continued her Christian life up to her passing. Thelma was the last of her generation in the Hambrick and Moore families.

Thelma married Roscoe H. Moore Nov. 17, 1934 in Big Spring, Texas. The family resided in the Lamesa, Texas area until they moved to California in 1953. They had a second home in Lamesa where they were several months a year.

Thelma went to heaven on April 16, 2016. She was preceded in death early on by two brothers and one sister; by her mother in 1978; by her dad in 1981; by her son Gene in March 2004; by her husband Roscoe in August 2004; by her brother Bill in 2005; and by her granddaughter Laura in 2008.

She is survived by daughter Shirley Helms and husband Eddie (Karen, James, Edwin III); JoAnn Moore (Warren, Darren); Roscoe Moore and wife Barbara (Rusty, Shelli, Anjolie, Hank, Rocky); and Rodger Moore and wife Marsha (Sonya, Mark, Rhonda). Thelma is survived by a very large family of loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren: Dillon and Delilah Helms, Canyon Bernstein, Evigene and Semonne and Braylan Draper and Isaac Nelson.

Viewing for family and friends begins Monday, April 25 from 3-7 p.m. at Mariposa Funeral Home at 4981 9th Street in Mariposa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Hillside Baptist Church, 2529 Highway 49 South, located halfway between Mariposa and Oakhurst next to the CAL FIRE station on the right side of the road coming from Mariposa. Persons are asked to arrive early so everyone will be seated before start of the service.

Graveside services are at a later date at Lamesa Memorial Park, Lamesa, Texas.
