Kathleen Callahan

Kathleen Anne Callahan was born

Sept. 12, 1940 in San Diego to parents James and Marybeth Kalstrom.

She passed away on April 2, 2016.

Kathy grew up in Fresno, attending Roosevelt High School. She then attended Fresno State University and was a member of the first graduating nursing class.

Career highlights include working as a labor and delivery nurse at

Fresno Community Hospital; school nurse at Sanger High School; and then serving in an administrative role with the Sanger Unified School District until retirement.

Kathy and husband, Ken, moved to Mariposa where she quickly came out of retirement to begin an acute care nursing career at John C. Fremont Hospital. She enjoyed reading, playing trivia games and spending time with family. Above all, Kathy was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting numerous destinations in the world, many aboard a cruise ship.

A strong woman of God, her generosity, loving kindness and companionship will be sorely missed. Kathy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth; children Clifford and Diane; three grandchildren; and brothers David and Phillip.

On Friday April 15, 2016 at 10 a.m., a celebration of her life will be held at the Mariposa United Methodist Church, 4991 6th Street, Mariposa.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the ALS Association, Golden West Chapter (www.alsagoldenwest.org)
