Bobby Rhoan

Bobby Rhoan was born May 17,

1965, in Fresno, and passed away on

March 22, 2016, at Doctors Hospital in Modesto.

He was a 1983 Mariposa County High School graduate. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, attended boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; was at Kadena Air Base overseas in Okinawa, Japan; and was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. He was honorably discharged in 1988.

Bobby moved to Oregon in 1994 and that’s where he met his soulmate, Sherry Dee, and they shared a loving and lasting relationship. He became a journeyman carpenter in the Union Brotherhood of Carpenters and worked at various job sites throughout California, Nevada and Oregon. He received his contractor’s license in 2009. He was currently employed with Big Sandy Rancheria as the tribal housing manager, where he trained a crew of five young Native American men, who were very eager to learn.

Bobby had been a very dedicated San Diego Chargers fan since he was a young boy. He enjoyed fast-pitch softball, pitching for the Air Force Team, the Mariposa Miwoks and other teams throughout California and Oregon. He was an avid pool player and dart player, and he loved to fish, hunt and go camping.

Bobby came from many generations of royalty on both his parents’ sides, which he was very proud of. He is a descendant of Captain Joe Howard of Mariposa; Chief Tenaya, Ahwahneechees of Yosemite; Bridgeport Tom of Mono Lake; Captain Sam of Mono Lake; and Frank Mc- Cabe of Auberry.

He is survived by wife, Sherry Dee; step-sons, Donald and Gunner; granddaughters, Sonora and Savannah, all of Oregon; his mother, Frances (McCabe) Gann; father and step-mother, Patrick and Natalie Rhoan; sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Martin Lewis; step-sister, Laura Gann; step-brother, Norman Gann; nieces, Alyssa and Kristen Villanueva; and nephews, Monte Villanueva Jr., Joe and Trey Lewis and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His is proceeded in death by his brother, Monte Villanueva, his grandparents, Amy and Al Rhoanf, Isabelle (Howard) Jimenez, Lester B. McCabe; and his uncles Randall Law and Vincent Lewis.

Services will be held at the Mariposa Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10 a.m., with a viewing at 9 a.m. Graveside services will be at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery. There will be a potluck luncheon at the Senior Activity Center, 5246 Spriggs Lane in Mariposa.
