Gazette staff

This Wednesday, April 16, the California Highway Patrol Mariposa office will be hosting a gathering open to all  members of the community.
The meeting is to be an informal gathering to discuss community issues, have coffee and build relationships, according to CHP officials.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Donuts a Go-Go, 5004 Highway 140, in Mariposa.
“Coffee with a Cop” provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in the Mariposa area.
“We hope community members will welcome the opportunity to ask questions, bring concerns forward or simply get to know our officers," said Lt. R.I. Hagen, commander of the local office.
“Coffee with a Cop” is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members “one cup of coffee at a time,” according ot the CHP.
For more information, call the office at 966-3656 or email vroeber@chp.co.gov.
