Alleged shooter of deputy to be arraigned Oct. 13

Brian Ballasch, 35, accused in the shooting of Mariposa County Sheriff's Office Deputy Rudy Mirelez on Oct. 1, will be arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. in Mariposa.

Ballasch is being held in Stanislaus County Jail on $5 million bail. According to Betty Oliver, administrative assistant to Mariposa County District Attorney Thomas Cook, Ballasch is being charged with three counts of attempted murder with special allegations, five counts of felony assault and one count of felony evading.
