Tenaya Fire growing in Yosemite

Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015 - 11:48 a.m. - A 500-acre fire burning in Yosemite National Park is being fought by firefighters.

The Tenaya Fire began on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 7, and is very visible from all locations within the Park.

Photo Courtesy of NPSPhoto Courtesy of NPSYosemite fire crews are being augmented by two hand crews, five air tankers, including a VLAT, or very large air tanker, and fire management overhead. Additional resources were ordered on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Smoky conditions are likely to persist over the next few days.
The fire is located along both sides of the Lehamite Creek Trail from the north rim of the Valley to Tioga Road.
There are no threats to structures and no injuries have occurred.
There is no estimated containment and the cause is being investigated.
