Ronald P. Finch

Ronald P. Finch passed away peacefully at home with his family beside him on July 4, 2015, after a long illness.

Ron was born in Merced and was raised in his early years here in Mariposa. Due to lack of work, his family moved down to the Central Valley, where he met and married his wife, Barbara Jean Sehrt. They settled in Tracy for 35 years, where they raised their family.

He worked nine years as a maintenance mechanic at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He, his wife and son owned and operated F & F Trucking for 23 years before retiring.

Upon his retirement in 2002, Ron moved back to Mariposa, where he already built his retirement home on property that has been in his family since the 1800s.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his family and was passionate about classic cars and horses.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Finch, of 57 years; a son, Ronald J. Finch of Stockton; two grandsons, Gary Finch of Salida and Robert Finch of San Francisco, and two sisters and one brother.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Rhonda Jean Finch; a brother, Fred Finch; and his parents, Fred Finch and Thelma Garlet.

Services for Ronald were held on July 13 at Hotchkiss Mortuary in Tracy, officiated by Pastor Ken Trujillo of Cathey’s Valley Baptist Church. Ron was laid to rest next to his daughter Rhonda at the Tracy Cemetery.
