“Dutch” Harvey

“Dutch” Harvey, 86 years young, a resident of Mariposa County for 20 years, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, after a brief illness.

Dutch was a retired carnival owner, avid gardener and very independent and talented woman who lived a full life that proved the line “Thursday’s child has far to go.”

She is survived by two sons, two daughters, and their spouses; Dale and Connie Baughman of Wisconsin, Tom and Jackie Baughman of Iowa, Marilyn Harvey and Alex Long of Mariposa, and Janie and Kent Benander of Kansas. Two half sisters and one brother-in-law also survive her; Sarah Stafford of Arizona, and Bernice and Dale Fullerton of Iowa, and Bernice and Dale Fullerton of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and two husbands; Harold Bousman and J.P. Harvey, as well as a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Ron Plosch. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a few great-greatgrandchildren. Her large, extended family also includes many surviving nieces and nephews.

She succeeded in her goal to set a new family record for longevity and was still keeping up with current events and making plans until her final illness. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the excellent staff of John C. Fremont Hospital’s emergency room for their services, which saved her life more than once.

At her request, there will be a party in her honor at a later date this year.
