David Bond Peck

David Bond Peck, a much-beloved and cherished husband, father, brother, and son, passed away in the arms of his wife, on July 16, 2015 at Hinds Hospice in Fresno.

Dave was born in Lahaina, Maui in 1949 to Rev. Ed Peck and Maribeth Peck. He was raised in Riverside and moved to Sonoma in the early 1970s to work at Sonoma’s Developmental Center, first as a psych tech, then as a behavior modification trainer and finally as the health and safety officer.

After retirement, Dave moved to Mariposa with his wife, Helen, to fulfill their dream of building their own home in a more peaceful and rural environment.

Dave was a gentle, kind, and loving husband and father and was adored by friends and family alike. He will be remembered most for his positive outlook and loud, gregarious laugh that came up from his core with such gusto that it could shake foundations.

In the last few years, he faced his many health and mobility challenges with grace and good humor.

Dave is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Jeremiah Peck (Anne Bonner) and Cara Gillen (Zach); grandson, Oliver Gillen; step-children, Matthew Melendez and Michelle Parsons (Trevor); granddaughter, Dahlia Laganiere-Melendez; and sisters, Debbie Pitney (John) and Barbara Grantham (Buz).

A celebration of life his life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hinds Hospice in Fresno or the Mariposa SPCA.
