Deanna Gail Cramer Abbott

Deanna Gail Cramer Abbott, 75, of Clayton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto from a prolonged illness.

Deanna was born on March 28, 1940, the youngest of 12 children of the late Paul and Hazel Cramer. A native of Mariposa, Deanna grew up in the splendor of Yosemite National Park. She was very active in school, earning many awards in sports and academia, graduating third in her class at Mariposa County High School in 1958.

Deanna became a dental hygienist, subsequently becoming the office manager in a dental office in the East Bay Area during the 1980s through the early 2000s.

Deanna was a gifted homemaker and mother. She was an incredible cook and baker, famous for her breads that rarely lasted an hour after baking. She was a wonderful seamstress, making numerous clothes for her children and grandchildren. Deanna made at least a dozen beautiful wedding dresses for family and friends throughout her lifetime.

She was thought of as a second mom to many people. She was loved by her family and friends, and new acquaintances wherever she went. Her favorite music was country and western, and she loved going to concerts. She also enjoyed traveling and was able to visit Great Britain, Europe, China and various states in the United States.

Deanna was preceded in death by her two sons, Matthew Carey in 1986 and Mark Carey in 2011; her second husband, Clark Hale, DDS, of 18 years; siblings Lillian, Thelma, Paul, Charles, Geraldine, Margaret, JR, Roland, Hazel and William Cramer.

Deanna leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Michael Abbott, of nine years; they attended first through 12th grade together in Yosemite and Mariposa; her sister, Katherine Swift; her four children, Lauri (Russell) Kanarowski, Dave Carey, Kathy (Al) Lozano, and Ann (Ethan) Allen; Michael’s three children, Cathy Abbott, Michael (Stacey) Abbott, and Matt (Karen) Abbott; 18 grandchildren, Veronika (Adam) Ludwig, Joshua Majdali, Chris (Jessica) Carey, Jillian Reilly, Aimee (Joey) Grober, Jenna Martinez, Ainger Allen, Emily (Sam) Taulbee, Everett Carey, Robert Martinez, Kelsey Allen, Amanda Martinez, Blake Abbott, Lucie Abbott, Arianna Abbott, Payton Abbott, Ella Abbott, and Aurelia Lozano; and seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Carey, Harper Carey, Amira Ludwig, Avery Ludwig, Rennin Carey, Brooke Grober and Scarlet Carey; and numerous relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.

A fall memorial will take place in October, 2015 at the Mariposa County Cemetery.
