Ronnie Lynn Cole

Ronnie Lynn Cole, 74, of Mariposa, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015 in the care of his daughter at her home in Newport, Wash.

Born in Atwater to Frank Edward and Elenora Cole, Ron lived most of his life in California.

Ron is survived by his youngest brother, Dennis Cole, of Mariposa; his four children, daughters Debra Barcellos of Oakley and Rhonda Hall of Newport, Wash.; his sons Franklyn Cole of Mariposa and Jesse Cole of Oakley; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family and many friends.

Ron, a veteran, was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne of Fort Bragg, N.C. He had a love for baseball and played for the American Service Team while stationed in Germany. He was a gifted poet and enjoyed playing an occasional prank. Ron was a fisherman and bowler. He enjoyed scratching an occasional lottery ticket. In-law to some, outlaw to others, he had a green thumb for gardening.

Ron retired from truck driving and devoted the remaining years of his life to his love, gold mining on Sherlock Creek in Whiskey Flats, Mariposa, the place he called home.

Family and friends will be gathering for a celebration of his life at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16 at the home of his brother in Mariposa.
