Harry Owen Stewart

On the evening of May 28, 2015, Harry Stewart passed away peacefully of natural causes.

Harry was being visited and comforted by family members at the Blueberry Hill Manor Assisted Living Facility in Valley Center. Harry was 101 years old.

Harry was born on May 17, 1914 in Oklahoma, the eldest child of Harry T. and Frances D. Stewart. He and his brother, Talbot D. Stewart, were raised in Brea.

Harry served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was stationed in New Zealand. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he began his career with Union Oil, retiring in 1969. Harry and Kathryn then moved to Midpines, the community they loved. Harry was devoted to the community where he gave generously his time, talents and treasure.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn Shaw Stewart (December 26, 1990) and his brother, Talbot Denton Stewart (March 3, 2000). Harry is survived by his nephew, Michael D. Stewart; nieces, Jeanette Stewart, Carol Davis, and Shirley Sheppard; one great-nephew, three great-nieces, five great-great nephews and five great-great nieces.

Harry will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Masonic Cemetery in Mariposa. In honor of Harry’s wishes, there will be no service or flowers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mariposa Funeral Home.
