Rescuers pull man from river

Thursday, June 11, 2015 - 9 a.m. - Rescuers pulled a motorist from a Merced River bank on Wednesday evening after the man's vehicle plunged towards the watercourse west of the Ferguson Slide.

The man, who was not identified, suffered no injuries in the plunge, but was transported by air to Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto, possibly due to an underlying medical condition, CHP Officer Steven Lewis said today.

The incident was first reported around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Units from the California Highway Patrol, CAL FIRE and Yosemite National Park responded.
