John E. Pellegrini

John E. Pellegrini lost his battle with cancer on May 11, 2015. He was a resident of Mariposa for 35 years.

John was born on Jan. 11, 1941 in Connecticut and was raised there. He was a veteran and honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.

John and his family lived in Long Beach until 1979, when he transferred from the California Youth Authority in Hollywood to the CYA Camp in Mariposa County on Mt. Bullion.

After his retirement from the CYA, he went to work for Yosemite National Park until his final retirement in 2007. Before his retirements he served his community as an assistant volunteer fire chief at Mt. Bullion and Bear Valley and as a reserve lieutenant with the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office.

John leaves behind Margo, his wife of 51 years; a son John (JJ) Pellegrini of Placerville and his wife, Jennifer Oliver Pellegrini; his grandson Kyle Pellegrini and granddaughter Ava Pellegrini and his twin brother, Joseph Pellegrini of Stuart, Fla.

There will be no funeral services, as Pellegrini requested. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
