Darren Fitzgerald Johnson, 54, of Cathey’'s Valley, entered into eternal peace on April 1, 2015 at Memorial Medical Hospital in Modesto.

Darren was born on Nov. 2, 1960, to Arthur and Patricia Johnson. He attended high school in Merced, and earned a scholarship to art school.

Darren and his wife Deborah moved to Mariposa in 1983, residing in Ponderosa Basin. Darren was an exceptional artist. He loved his rock ‘n roll music, knife throwing and was phenomenal at playing the guitar. His most cherished memories were camping and barbecuing with his four children.

Darren leaves his wisdom, strength and memories to be cherished by his devoted daughter, Savannah Rose Johnson and his grandsons Kolben, and Kason Mitchell of Merced. He will live on through his truest friend, Lisa Flynn and her mother Rita Ball, who loved him as if he were her own, and Deaonn Rivette all of Cathey’s Valley.

A service will be held for Darren on May 23 at 3 p.m. at the Cathey’s Valley Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Following the service there will be a barbecue potluck at the Cathey’s Valley Park. Everyone is invited to attend.

May he rest in peace, forever be in our hearts and never forgotten.
