Illegal marijuana season begins

Saturday, May 9, 2015 - 10 a.m. - Last Tuesday, the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the National Guard anti-drug unit, National Park Service, and one probation officer, took down an illegal cartel wilderness marijuana grow near Lake McClure.

A total of 7,911 plants were eradicated from the Hunters Valley side of the lake. Law enforcement officials say there was no suspect contact, and the grow was the first busted this season. It was discovered in the same area as a garden was discovered and destroyed last year.Part of the illegal cartel marijuana grow taken down near Lake McClure last Tuesday.
