(NPS | CONTRIBUTED)Friday, May 1, 2015 - 4:30 p.m. - Yosemite officials plan to open the Park's trans-Sierra Tioga Road at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 4 due to the year's record-breaking low snowfall.

While the past rainy season's totals are among the driest on record, the Tioga Road actually opened earlier last year--on May 2.

Also due to low snow, the hiking-route cables on Half Dome will be in place on Saturday, May 2, Park officials said. Permits are required for the popular hike, however.
