Storm packs rain, snow

(Erik Skindrud | The GAZETTE)Monday, April 27, 2015 - 11:30 a.m. - A late-season storm dropped close to two inches of rain on the county on Saturday, April 25. Significant amounts of snow were logged as well.

The official tally for Mariposa was 1.59 inches, the Western Regional Climate Center's automated weather station recorded. The total was closer to two inches in the Midpines and Lushmeadows areas.

"A good amount" of snow fell in Yosemite Valley on Saturday, but was mostly melted away by Sunday, Pastor Brent Moore of the Yosemite Valley Chapel said.

Warmer conditions are on tap this week, with a Tuesday town high of 83 degrees forecast by the National Weather Service.
