More than 35 years ago, Ed Kline brought his family to Mariposa in hopes of raising his family in the rural environment Southern California did not offer.

Ed was hopeful to apply at the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, but his wife missed the trappings of city life and Ed returned with his family to Anaheim. Ed’s dream remained alive through the years and came to fruition when his eldest daughter, Bonnie Henderson, landed a job with Mariposa County.

After retiring from the Anaheim Police Department, Ed lived vicariously through his daughter while enjoying his weekly copy of the MARIPOSA GAZETTE. His favorite section, no surprise, was the Sheriff’s Log.

Ed retired in 1999 after 36 years with the Anaheim Police Department. He was born in Long Beach and is survived by his wife, Donna, of 50 years, sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and Rudy Sedges of Hemet and Kathy and Gerry Spring of Wilsall, Mont., daughters and son-in-laws Bonnie and Curt Henderson of North Fork, Michelle and Tom Magee of Las Vegas, Nev. and Summer and Phil Gasca of Anaheim, his grandchildren o

Holly Bittle, Kyle Magee, Luke and Sophia Gasca and great-grandson Isaiah Gutierrez.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne (and Ray) Olimski of Goodyear, Ariz. in 2013.

Visitation was held at Hilgenfeld Mortuary, in Anaheim on Thursday, March 26. A funeral service will be held at Kindred Community Church in Anaheim Hills on Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m., followed immediately by burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.
