George F. Phillips

George F. Phillips went to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2015. He was born Sept. 21, 1935 in Austin, Texas to Viola and George T. Phillips.

George moved with his family to North Monterey County in 1939 and he attended schools in Prunedale and Salinas before joining the U.S. Army and being stationed in Germany.

Upon George’s return, he joined the family in the ranching business. He was involved in ranching until he and his family moved to Mariposa 15 years ago. During that time he also worked for the Monterey County Public Works until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Jeanetta; sons David (Kim) Phillips and Charles Phillips; daughter-in-law Judy Phillips; grandsons David Phillips and Anthony Phillips; granddaughters Jill (Manny) Hock, Julie Broenner; three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kaylee and Abigail; two sisters Betty (Jack) Sands and Edith (Dan) Stokes.

George was preceded in passing by his oldest son George E. Phillips; sisters Melva Stewart and Susan Phillips and brother Russell Phillips.

Burial will be private with a celebration of life at a later date.
