(Mariposa County Fire Safe Council | CONTRIBUTED)Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 - 10:30 a.m. - Crews from CAL FIRE and the federal Bureau of Land Management today are burning trimmed brush off Hunters Valley Access Road west of Bear Valley.

Depending on weather and air-quality conditions, some burning may extend into Monday, Feb. 23 and subsequent days, BLM Fuels Management Specialist Brian Mullhollen said.

No burning is scheduled to take place this weekend, he said.

Funded with a grant from PG&E, contractors hired by the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council cleared the brush in October. Since the fuel is tinder-dry, very little smoke is being created by the work, Mullhollen said.

Recorded burn information is available at (916) 941-3155.
