Vivian Elaine Ashworth

Vivian Elaine Ashworth was born on Sept. 28, 1932 in Lancaster, Mo. to Guy and Anna Mae Graves. She passed away on Jan. 29, 2015. The family moved around for a time, and then settled in Merced. She married Robert Ashworth in Mariposa on Sept. 2, 1950.

Vivian worked numerous jobs in Merced until she and her family moved to Midpines when Robert became foreman for Caltrans 50 years ago. She worked at the 49er Market and also Mariposa’s Department of Motor Vehicles office, from which she retired after 15 years.

Vivian liked to read and travel. She also enjoyed going to her sons’ ballgames and being with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, brother John Graves, sister Priscilla Graves and daughter-in-law Coby Bondshu-Ashworth.

She is survived by her four children, Sue, Wes, Mark Ashworth and Lori Visher (Keith). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Crystal (Chris) Griffith, Amanda Ashworth, Jeremiah and Daniel Bean and six great-grandchildren, including Christopher and Jacob Griffith, Anneliese and Rachel Bean and Brylee and Brody Bean.

Vivian’s family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and Home Health with the care of their mother.

A celebration of life service for Robert and Vivian Ashworth will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the Mariposa Cemetery in Mariposa. Pastor Ginger Foster will officiate. A reception in their honor will follow at the Mariposa VFW.
