(Erik Skindrud | The GAZETTE)Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 - 12 noon - County health professionals reported more flu cases this week, as the state's influenza season kicks into high gear.

At least three seniors have been hospitalized at John C. Fremont Hospital with severe flu complications, facility spokesperson Lorna Coci said. Meanwhile, more than six percent of patients walking in at the Yosemite Valley Clinic are apparently suffering from flu, a Park report said this week.

Medical professionals suggest that people who experience fever, sore throat, body aches and other flu symptoms see a doctor as soon as possible. Several new medications can reduce flu symptoms and limit the time people are sick, public health experts say.
