Janet Marylee Hayes

Janet Marylee Hayes was born a Roduner in Merced on June 27, 1927, where she grew up on a dairy ranch and farm, the daughter of Walter Phillip (Walt) Roduner and Rachel Rowland Roduner.

Janet had a lifelong appreciation of horses and fond memories of riding on the ranch, at rodeos, to school, and family pack trips in the mountains of Yosemite.

She graduated from Merced High School as a member of the class of 1945 and attended Pasadena City College and Fresno State, where she studied to become a teacher. She was a dedicated school teacher in Merced, Carmichael, Roseville and Paradise, all California towns.

Janet married Arthur Lee Hayes on Nove. 22, 1950. She was married for 60 years until Art’s passing in June of 2011.

Along the way they raised four children, making homes in Merced, Chowchilla, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Paradise, Magalia, and Mariposa.

Janet leaves behind two brothers, Richard (Bud) Roduner and Lloyd Roduner. Two siblings proceeded her in death—Walter Phillip Roduner II (Phil) and Joan Roduner Bailey.

Surviving her are four children Stephen, John, Paul, and Susan, 20 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

Janet leaves behind a legacy of honesty, hard work, appreciation for family and nature. Not striving to stand out or overachieve a contrived significance, she lived life with quiet contentment and resilience.

A bookmarked passage in her devotional reads, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Janet passed peacefully in the presence of family and their prayers in Tracy. She will be deeply missed and always loved.

The family plans a memorial service in honor of her life Jan. 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Mariposa Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers family suggests donations to the Mariposa Lutheran Church or Hospice Vitas Community Connection.
