'Flood watch' is issued for county

Image: National Weather ServiceImage: National Weather ServiceMonday, Dec. 1, 2014 - 4:30 p.m. - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Food Watch for "burn scar" areas of Mariposa and adjacent counties. It will remain in effect from Tuesday morning to early Wednesday.

The special weather statement mentions the Rim Fire and El Portal Fire areas. Other county burn zones include the Bridge Fire in Ponderosa Basin and the Hunters Fire area near Bear Valley.

Close to 2.5 inches of rain is expected to fall on Tuesday, with even more falling during localized thunderstorms, forecasters said.

"Rainfall rates could exceed one-half inch per hour during the storm," forecasters said.
