Joanne Ruby Haynes

Joann Ruby Haynes peacefully passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Mariposa on Oct. 24, 2014 at the age of 85.

Joann was born on March 4, 1929 in Merced and raised in San Francisco (home of the World Series champion Giants, who she watched faithfully).

Joann married her husband of 64 years, Chauncey, on Nov. 29, 1947 and spent the next 22 years as a Navy wife and mother.

Joann worked as a bookkeeper for 20-plus years for Hayward Lumber Company in Pacific Grove and Salinas. She retired and moved to Mariposa in 1975 where she did taxes for H&R Block for a number of years.

She enjoyed working the jumble in the Fresno Bee, playing dice games with her grandchildren, bingo, watching NASCAR races and her beloved Giants on television.

She is survived by her daughter Debra Smith (Philip) of Mariposa, her son Matthew Haynes (Mary) of Raymond and her daughter Dawn Hernandez (Roy) of San Jose. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, including Monique Beaudoin, Jennifer Camp, Dawn McCulley, Carolyn Cadigan, Timothy Haynes, and Zakaray and Richard Hernandez. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, including Ashley, Amber and AJ Hall-Beaudoin, Jocey Camp, Jaxzyn Przybyla and Michael McCulley, and by one great-great grandchild, Matthew Ketner (and another on the way). Additionally, she is survived by her brother William Brasher (Fumiko) of Livermore, and by her nieces Pepper Mendonza and Lori Mc- Donald.

Services will be held at the Mariposa Cemetery Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.
