Foresta residents return, Park entrance remains shut

Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 - 2:10 p.m. - Tumbling debris from the Dog Rock Fire continues to land on El Portal Road, prompting the continued closure of the Highway 140 corridor into Yosemite, Park officials said today.

Meanwhile, firefighting efforts had eased the threat on the Park enclave of Foresta, where an evacuation order expired at 1 p.m. today.

The fire had burned close to 245 acres and was 10 percent contained as of this afternoon, Park fire spokesman Gary Wuchner said.

Power remained off in Yosemite Valley, however.

The Arch Rock entrance would likely remain shut for "at least another 24 hours," a statement released by K. Kosick at 1:30 p.m. today said.
