CHP plans strict enforcement for weekend

(Wikipedia | CONTRIBUTED)(Wikipedia | CONTRIBUTED)Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 - 4 p.m. - The California Highway Patrol reminds motorists that the agency will be in strict-enforcement mode this Labor Day weekend. Plans include a DUI checkpoint in the county on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.

The checkpoint will be at an undisclosed location and will be held between the hours of 6 p.m. on Saturday and 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.

In addition, the CHP will buckle down for its annual Labor Day Maximum Enforcement Period. The goal of the effort is not to make arrests, but to increase safety along the region's roads and highways.

"Our main goal through this high-visibility enforcement effort is to prevent tragedies from occurring," CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said.

Celebrations can be part of the holiday weekend, but so should designating a driver if alcohol is part of party plans, Farrow added.

High visibility huh? I think they have that covered ! That is a very nice NEW Administration Building They have Built At the southern end of HWY 49.sure isn't like the old days when i could call the curve the units would be coming around. which department had to cover Oakhurst while the other had their Breaks. Yep the days of 38 minutes runs from THE PINES INTO S>East (57 miles)Fresno Via Oakhurst/Coarsegold are going be very ,very rare! Even for the CHP. My advice to anyone that drives. Dont drive while having consumed alcohol. You`ll get to keep your Freedom, your vehicle .your money,Job and everything An anything else you may have including Your body parts . If you drink You will go down . It will happen. And the system will take about everything you have. I have over 1,000,000 miles up an down 41 alone .
