Richard Tresidder

Richard Tresidder passed away on July 8, 2014 from lung cancer at his home.

He was born in the old Mariposa Hospital on Jan. 12, 1930 to Martin and Lillian Tresidder. He graduated from Mariposa County High School in 1948, entered the United States Navy shortly after and spent four years in the Navy during the Korean War. He was discharged from the Navy in 1952, and married his wife Shirley in 1955.

Richard worked for the state forestry service in the summers during high school and one summer as an adult before going to work for the City of San Francisco on the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir and Cherry Valley Water Supply project as a surveyor. He retired in 1986.

Richard’s family moved to Ahwahnee in 1965 and he commuted weekly to work at Moccasin until retiring.

Richard was preceded in death by his son Mark, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Shirley, his brother Martin Tresidder and Martin’s wife Janet of Mariposa, one sister, Mary Smalley and her husband James of Mariposa, his daughter, Diana Williams and son Bruce Tresidder, his grandchildren Dar Williams and Vickie Morgan, Chenise Williams Perry and her husband Robbie, Shayla Tresidder, and by his great-grandchildren, Dallas and Chloe Williams and Brylie Vaughn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
