Dennis Dierksen

Dennis Dierksen passed away on June 11, 2014 after a 9-month battle with acute leukemia.

Never did Dennis say “why me.” His usual flair kept us all positive and hopeful, his doctors guessing and his nurses busy.

Dennis was born in Yosemite Valley along with his brother Alan and his sister Carol. His parents were Claire “Curley” and Isabelle. Dennis attended grammer schools in Yosemite Valley and Mariposa County High School.

Dennis had a small career with Standard Oil before he chose to get an animal health degree with California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Dennis had a 32-year career as a salesman for Meek and Company. He had a great love for the outdoors, and a passion for skiing. His favorite place to be was skiing in the Grand Tetons. He took many Alaska fishing trips with his sons, family and friends.

He spent many hours with back country horsemen and his own trips with friends. He learned to fly in 1990 and that became his new passion. He was a fearless person.

Dennis leaves his loving wife Arlene of 20 years, his son Brian, Robin, Sierra Blain, Kathy, Forrest, Emily, Gary, Jack, Jason, Tiffany, Catlyn, Grady, Stone, James, Tim, Varieg, son Adam, Kassandra, Hailie, Alex, Ashley, daughter Katie, Jaime and Hunter.

A memorial service was held on June 21.
