Small fire puts big smoke in sky

A fire that burned near the corner of Smither Road and Westfall Road looked considerably bigger than the two acres it torched on Sunday, June 15. One mobile home was destroyed in the fire. (Greg Knight | The GAZETTE)Monday, June 16, 2014 - 10:30 a.m. - Although it appeared much larger than the two acres it devoured, a fire near the intersection of Smither Road and Westfall Road, in the Lushmeadows area, destroyed one mobile home and burned heavy brush in the area.

An evacuation order was put in place for Old Mill Road, though it has now been lifted and residents are being allowed back into their homes.
