Fire forces rescheduling of e-waste event

Friday, May 30, 2014 - 8:30 a.m. - The e-waste collection event that was scheduled for today and Saturday has been reset for Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds is a designated staging area for crews assigned to area wildfires, and  the function takes priority over other scheduled events, facility manager Brian Bullis said. The estimated containment date for the Hunters Fire is now Monday, June 2.

When it takes place next week, the event will accept all sorts of electronic gear, including computers, televisions, phones and keyboards. Steel scrap metal items will also be taken as long as no plastic or wood is attached. No refrigerators or household hazardous waste will be accepted.
