CHP arrest gun-packing probationer

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 - 3:35 p.m. - This morning around 9:30 a.m., Mariposa CHP officers arrested Russell Kaad, 51, after a hit and run incident on Triangle Road.

According to the CHP report, offiers responded to a hit-and-run collision that involved a cattle guard and roadway signs. Shortly thereafter, CHP located a blue Mitsubishi pickup with corresponding front end damage on Triangle Road, east of Carter Road, and determined it was the vehicle involved in the collision.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, who was present with the vehicle, was identified as Russell Kaad.  During the investigation, it was determined Mr. Kaad was unlicensed, on probation, and prohibited from carrying a firearm.  During a subsequent inventory of the Mitsubishi, a loaded handgun was located, as were several small packages of methamphetamine, packaged and stored with paraphernalia indicative of intent to distribute the drug.

Kaad was arrested and is being booked into the Mariposa County Jail .

Look for further details in next week's Mariposa Gazette.

Yeah its pretty dangerous in

Yeah its pretty dangerous in Posa, you hear of officers being shot at all the time..right? High risk doesn't always mean high pay by the way, (military) who is actually at risk more often then not. So obviously not "common sense". Hey I don't fault the police..the people who run them have them on a short leash. Go ahead and turn a blind eye to the abuse of authority that happens everyday. I choose not to.
