Grizzlies prep for 2014 gridiron season

(Greg Knight | The GAZETTE)Thursday, May 29, 2014 - 10:20 a.m. - If Grizzly head football coach Ryan Oliphant gets his way, the 2014 season will be one showcasing the speed, agility and defensive strength of his team, along with an offensive attack that will, hopefully, derail perennial rivals like Le Grand and Ripon Christian.

The squad’s spring practice began in earnest last week as about 30 returning and potential Grizzlies hit the upper field at the high school for some pre-pre-season preparation and instruction in the finer points of the game.

Oliphant said his offensive line and defensive backs are a fluid situation and will involve some new faces in those key positions.

“The problem we might have with the O-line this year is that we are a little thin on our depth chart,” Oliphant said. “We had some of our team leaders leave after last year.”
