Vanderkarr jailed on arson charge

James VanderkarrJames VanderkarrMonday, May 19, 2014 - A transient Mariposa man has been arrested and jailed on suspicion of setting a fire and trespassing in Hornitos on May 17.

After a brief search that included a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, James Vanderkarr, 52, was taken into custody by  deputies, who responded when residents in the area of McCay Road and Hornitos Road reported seeing a trespasser in the vicinity.

Deputies discovered a fire in the area and after a brief search by a K9, Vanderkarr was located and arrested.
