May 1 begins burn-permit requirement

Wednesday, April 30, 2014 - 1:20 p.m. - As of Thursday, May 1, CAL FIRE burn permits will be required for all hazard-reduction burning in state-administered areas of Mariposa County.

Permits may be obtained at local CAL FIRE stations during normal business hours.

Burning 4 x 4-foot piles of brush, leaves, pine needles or other dry vegetation for hazard reduction are currently permitted in the county with a valid permit on permissive burn days only. 

Permit holders are responsible for following the regulations stated on permits as well as calling the Mariposa County Burn Day Information Line at 966-1200 before burning.
