By Greg Knight | ASSOCIATE EDITOR

Friday, April 4, 2014 - 10 a.m. - The Lady Grizzlies’ softball team took a decisive 5-0 victory over Delhi on Thursday, April 3 to rise one spot, to third place, in Southern Athletic League standings.

For three innings, the Lady Hawks’ pitcher, Alyssa Stockton shut Mariposa down, retiring eight batters and only allowing one hit by Genevieve Kelsey in the top of the second.

“As we started off, we realized (Stockton) is a dominant pitcher,” Williams said. “I have faced her for a number of years and she was shutting us down. At that point, I said ‘we have to start bunting.’”

And bunt they did, with Claire Bullis, Shea Williams and Kelsey bunting for singles.  Elaina Mero then nailed an RBI single to score Bullis from third, with Williams and Kelsey following up.
