Supervisors hear greenhouse gas report

Tuesday, April 8, 2014 - 3 p.m. - County supervisors today reviewed a study charting the sources of local greenhouse gas emissions. Cars, trucks, SUVs, busses and other vehicles contribute close to 63 percent of the county's total, the report said.

Countywide, human activity released close to 220,000 metric tons of CO2 and other gasses into the atmosphere in 2010, the report noted.

In recent years, the county has worked with Yosemite National Park planners to establish the YARTS bus line and a local composting facility to limit greenhouse gas emissions, the report said.
