Mindy Masek | ContributedMonday, April 7, 2014 - 4:30 p.m. - After going missing for nearly a month, “Speedy” the tortoise came home to the Cathey’s Valley ranch of Mindy Masek on Monday, April 7.

The tortoise was spotted in the Whispering Oaks neighborhood next door to the Masek ranch on March 31, but was not recovered until he walked home and was found in good health.

Masek said she will be building a more sturdy enclosure for Speedy and will likely put a tracking device on his shell.
