Local temps top 80 degrees

Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - 2:15 p.m. - The high temperature in Mariposa was forecast to hit 80 degrees today, with the maximum on Thursday going a degree higher. Forecasters saw a slight chance of rain on Friday, however.

This week's unseasonably warm temperatures match average temperatures in mid-June, National Weather Service forecasters said. Also of note are this week's near-record high minimum temperatures at night, meteorologists said.

Skies are expected to be clear on Monday evening, which "should allow great viewing of the lunar eclipse Monday night, especially in the rural areas away from all the city lights," a Hanford-based forecaster named Durfee wrote.
