Growth seen in construction, existing real estate sales

Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - 3:15 p.m. - Applications for new residential and commercial construction in Mariposa County have seen a steady increase in the last three years, with a high of 543 permits issued in 2013.

According to Mariposa County Building Department Director Michael Kinslow, that is a sizeable increase over the previous year’s record of 354 permits.

The improving health of the economy is a welcome change for existing home sales as well, after the market debacle of 2008 and 2009, which  were two of the worst years in recent memory for real estate sales.
