John H. Lilley, Sr.

Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, former Mariposa resident John H. Lilley passed away peacefully on Feb. 20, 2014 surrounded by family and friends in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

John was born June 20, 1934 to the late Bernice Peasley.

He joined the U.S. Army to become a Ranger and later on served in Hawaii, Panama, Casablanca, Austria and Korea. During his service in the Army he earned 102 parachute jumps along with many other honors.

John was a creative genius, builder, inventor, gold miner, Christian and family man.

Lilley is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ann Lilley. He was riding his motorcycle one day when he noticed a strawberry blonde beauty. She ended up being the love of his life.

John is survived by his seven children: Rick Lilley, John Lilley, Jr., June Holt, Mike Lilley, Marty Lilley, Maggie Stiers, Marlena Gregory, and 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by so many. His wisdom, inventions, morals and every life lesson can never be replaced or forgotten.

“We love you,” his family said.
