Greg Knight | THE GAZETTEGreg Knight | THE GAZETTEFriday, March 14, 2013 - 10:30 a.m. - A team of firefighters from CAL FIRE hauled hoses up a nearly vertical incline on Thursday, March 13 after a controlled burn escaped up a hill on Stockton Creek Road.

According to CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Jeff Isaacs, winds contributed to pushing the fire up a draw where it spread to grasses and heavy brush. It took crews nearly two hours to contain the fire.

Although vegetation in the county may look green as spring rolls into the region, CAL FIRE is warning residents to be careful with their burning since extremely dry conditions still exist.
