Timothy Louis Graton

Timothy Louis Graton, ADC, USN (Retired), age 60, of Coupeville, Wash., passed away on Feb. 8, 2014, at his home after a short illness.

Timothy Graton was born in Solvang on September 9, 1953 to John Oliver Graton Sr. and Margaret Eileen (Summers) Graton. He was raised in Lompoc, Los Alamos and Mariposa. He graduated from Mariposa County High School in 1971.

After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. On May 12, 1973, he married Mary Ann Helm in Chula Vista. Tim and Mary lived in California, Washington, Hawaii and Japan. He completed seven world tours during his Navy career., serving in Iceland, Africa and Asia as well as the United States.

After retirement from the Navy as an E-7, Tim was employed by Boeing as a non-destructive technician, moving to Whidbey Island, Wash. a few years ago. He was a member of the Machinists Union.

Tim enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, fishing, the outdoors, riding his Harley and most importantly, his time with his family.

Tim is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Violet Graton of Coupeville and Tina L. Newton of Arlington, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tatiyana, Alexandira and Timothy Newton and four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Harley, Dakota and Bradyn.

He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Franke of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Lynda VanderKarr of Midpines; and two brothers, Denny Moore of Benson, Ariz. and John Graton Jr. of Oceano, Calif.

A graveside service was held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. on Feb. 14 with Military Honors by the NAS Whidbey Honor Guard.
